New Little League Bat Standard for 2018

Foster City Little League Families,

As registration is now open for the upcoming 2018 Spring Season, I wanted to update you on the regulation bat change effective for the season.

Last year, Little League International announced its intentions to change to the USA Bat Standard for the 2018 season.  Well, 2018 is here and we are now faced with an entirely new standard and set of bats that are allowed in Little League.

What does this mean for you?

Quite simply, if your child's bat does not have the USA Bat Standard sticker and is not on the attached list of approved bats, he/she is not able to use it for the 2018 season.

For the most up to date list of bats, please see https://usabat.com/.

What bat should I get for my child?

We are going to try and have a number of opportunities for the players to try out the new bats ahead of the start of the season.  We will have the new bats available for the players to try out and use during the Player Evaluations for Intermediate/Majors/AAA in January, and will also work to have a "Bat Day" sometime during pre-season as well.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via fcll.org or email me directly at .

Regards,
David Saito
