Restarting FCLL!!

Aloha All,

I hope that this email finds you and your family continuing to stay safe and healthy during these unprecedented times.

I know that a lot of us were hoping to salvage something of the Spring 2020 season; however, we need to bring that officially to a close and look forward to Fall.

June and July have been filled with meetings between the Foster City government and the various Youth Sports Programs that help serve our wonderful community.  And thanks to the combined efforts of not only FCLL, but FCTB, FCYSA, AYSO, PYSA, and Pen Cities, we have aligned with the city on a restart plan for youth sports starting in August.

So what does this mean specifically for Foster City Little League?

It means that we will open up our Fall Baseball program in August with Phase 1 of our Path to Restart Plan (and can be found in the documents tab on FCLL.org).  This will largely be single teams of 12 or less players, up to 4 adult volunteers and sessions designed on skill development and not competitive play.  It aligns with the current Health Orders in place, and follows the outlines required around the "social bubble" concept therein.  We will continue to align with the City and County Health Orders and let you know of any and all changes to our plans as we continue to move forward towards the August re-start. Also attached is the FCLL Safety Plan with Covid addendum. Please familiarize yourself with the safety policies outlined in the plan as these are required for compliance with the county and city health requirements for restarting youth sports.

Prior to the first Fall sessions, we will have a online meeting for all registered parents to answer and address any questions and to help further explain our go-forward plan.

We are also opening up 2020 Fall Baseball Registration so that we can work on the necessary logistics around equipment and scheduling.  Please head over to fcll.org to register your child.  We will not be requiring a payment at this time.  Once we can confirm our schedules, teams, and sessions, we will then request those who have registered to pay for the Fall Season.  We are working to ensure that we can provide the best value for this program and will communicate the costs shortly.  Our goal is to be at or below last year's registration costs if at all possible.

A couple of additional notes to close out this update:

Board of Directors

We have a number of Board Members who have served us for many, many years who are choosing to step down for the upcoming 2021 Spring Season.  I will send out a separate communication in early August calling for all Board nominees and asking for your participation as league members to nominate the 2021 Board of Directors.  FCLL is wholly volunteer driven and I would love to see more of our community, especially those with children in our lower divisions (Wiffle, TeeBall, etc.) come out and join the Board.  You don't need to have been a manager or coach.  You simply need to want to help continue to make Baseball a great program for kids in Foster City.

Equipment Return

If you were a manager or coach during this very unusual season, the equipment coordinators will be sending a note out asking for the return of equipment (and for some upper divisions, the uniform jerseys).  Please keep an eye out and help us complete these final steps in closing the Spring Season.

As always, I wanted to thank you for being such an incredible league and such a vital part of our broader Foster City community.

Hope to see you all on the field!

Regards,

David Saito
